Putin on Russia's role on grain and high-tech markets
RBC, 08.05.2008, Moscow 13:01:48.Russia has for the first time in its history turned into a major grain exporter from an importer, Vladimir Putin told the State Duma. At this moment, Russia ranks second or third in grain exports, equal to Canada, Putin said. However, Russia still has very weak presence on the high-tech market, both abroad and at home. Therefore, the government should use its best efforts to remedy the situation, as it involves national security and social and economic risks. Putin noted that Russia, as part of the global economy, was facing fierce competition.
