Putin takes reins as United Russia leader
RBC, 07.05.2008, Moscow 15:25:15.Vladimir Putin has taken the office of the United Russia Chairman, RBC has been told in the party's press office. At the party's recent congress, Putin promised to become its leader after Dmitry Medvedev's inauguration. According to the amendments to the party's charter, Putin automatically became Chairman of the United Russia after the ceremony, with Boris Gryzlov remaining Chairman of the party's Supreme Council.
