Russia third in Europe in terms of inflation
RBC, 04.05.2008, Moscow 15:53:12.Russia ranked third in Europe in terms of inflation in the first quarter of 2008 following Ukraine and Latvia, Russia's Federal State Statistic Service (Rosstat) citing Eurostat, national statistics services and data posted on the Internet in accordance with the IMF Special Data Dissemination Standards. By the end of March, Russia's consumer prices had grown 4.8 percent. In Ukraine, inflation reached 9.7 percent, and 5.7 percent in Latvia. In the EU, consumer prices rose 1.1 percent on average, while Belarus and Lithuania showed fairly high rates of 4.1 and 4 percent respectively. Spain, Canada and Great Britain performed best in terms of inflation (0.4-0.5 percent). According to Rosstat, both in Russia and the European Union, consumer price growth accelerated in March.
