Euro regains footing vs. ruble
RBC, 28.03.2008, Moscow 15:45:06.Two hours before the close of today's special euro trading session for tomorrow deals, the weighted average exchange rate stood at 37.09 RUB/EUR, RUB 0.02 higher than the official rate set by the Bank of Russia for March 29-31. Meanwhile, the high on deals was 37.15 RUB/EUR. The current developments on MICEX can be attributed to the dollar's decline against the euro on international exchanges. The latter is now trading at some USD 1.5830, up from around USD 1.5750 at midday. Consequently, the euro has added roughly 0.5 percent against the dollar over a relatively short period.
