Prosecutors detect more violations in banking sector
RBC, 28.03.2008, Moscow 13:19:49.The number of violations in the banking sector is not declining, Russia's General Prosecutor Yury Chayka told the Federation Council today. Prosecutors detected 3,379 violations of law in 2007, up 9.5 percent compared to a year earlier. Meanwhile, disciplinary sanctions were applied against 397 individuals, up 20.7 percent against the previous year. Chayka noted that a large number of violations were connected with various fees banks illegally charged their clients when granting consumer loans. Some banks failed to give their customers accurate and comprehensive information on credit terms, Chayka said.
