Russian stock market closes mixed
RBC, 26.03.2008, Moscow 18:59:10.The Russian stock market finished with no defined trend today. The RTS index edged up 0.06 percent to 1,995.19 points, while the MICEX index inched down 0.02 percent to 1,593.73 points. On the RTS, HydroOGK rose 3.14 percent, Tatneft surged 4.23 percent, and Rosneft went up 2.05 percent. Meanwhile, NOVATEK fell 2.61 percent and RAO UES declined 1.59 percent. On MICEX, Tatneft climbed 2.77 percent and Severstal gained 2.63 percent. However, Sberbank dropped 2.99 percent, Uralsvyazinform decreased 2.66 percent, and Surgutneftegas preferred shares slid 1.38 percent. The Russian stock market is likely to be volatile until the end of the week, experts told RBC TV today. Tension remains high on the US market, and the Russian market is expected to follow the dynamics of US trading floors and react to US statistics. The market is likely to trend sideways in the short term, analysts note.
