Georgia reacts to Russia's statement on disputed territories
RBC, 24.03.2008, Tbilisi 14:56:49.Georgia's Parliament is poised to address the international community regarding the statement made by the Russian State Duma on the possible declaration of independence by Abkhazia and South Ossetia if Georgia joins the NATO. Meanwhile, Chairman of Georgia's temporary parliamentary commission on territorial integrity Shota Malashkhia believes that NATO member states need to expedite the process of officially naming Georgia as NATO candidate in light of the recent statement made by Russia. He added that the majority of Georgians voted for the accession to the NATO on January 5, 2008, noting that Russia could not ignore the will of the people.
