Russia posts February inflation
RBC, 05.03.2008, Moscow 15:59:17.Inflation stood at 1.2 percent in February and 3.5 percent in January-February 2008, the press office of Russia's Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported today. In February 2007, inflation amounted to 1.1 percent, and 2.3 percent in January 2008. The highest rise was registered in food prices, with the consumer price index for this product group amounting to 1.7 percent in February. The prices of paid services increased 1.4 percent. Eight Russian regions showed a rise of over 2 percent in consumer prices in February, with the biggest increase seen in Ingushetia, at 3.6 percent, where paid service prices grew 10.5 percent. The consumer price index stood at 101 percent in Moscow, and 100.9 percent in St. Petersburg. Core inflation totalled 1 percent in February and 2.1 percent for the first two months of 2008.
