Ten international organizations ignore Russia's election
RBC, 19.02.2008, Moscow 17:41:40.While 32 international organizations have received invitations to monitor Russia's presidential election, ten of them have refused to do so, a member of the Central Election Committee (CEC) Gennady Raykov told a press conference in Moscow today. Among the organizations that are planning to ignore the election are the OSCE's elections arm ODIHR and the Parliamentary Assembly, Raykov said. Raykov also stated that 300 international observers were expected to monitor the election, of whom 95 had already been accredited. Some 1,500 journalists have been invited to cover the election, while roughly 500,000 Russian observers are projected to monitor it.
