Moldova reports higher trade deficit with Russia
RBC, 06.02.2008, Chisinau 15:37:21.Moldova's trade deficit with Russia amounted to $265.9m in 2007, up 13.1 percent compared to a year earlier, the republic's National Bureau of Statistics told RBC today. According to the agency, excluding data for Transnistria-based companies not registered in Moldova, the republic's exports to Russia grew 27.9 percent from $182m to $232.7m, while Russia's imports to Moldova increased 19.6 percent from $417m to $498m. Russia's share in Moldova's exports remained unchanged at 17.3 percent of the total, while its share in the republic's imports shrank from 15.5 percent to 13.5 percent. The rise in Russia's exports to Moldova can be traced to higher gas prices.
