Russia lacks major financial market investors
RBC, 21.11.2007, Moscow 12:07:22.The Russian Federal Financial Markets Service (FFMS) has expressed concerns over a lack of major investors in Russia's financial market, Elena Kuritsyna, deputy head of the service, said at the ninth conference for professional participants of the stock market in Moscow today. She pointed out that only about 500,000 Russians invested in the country's financial market, while in the US the figure stood at roughly 70-80m. Therefore, Kuritsyna noted that FFMS was taking action in order to simplify professionals' access to the market. She added that FFMS had proposed changes to Russian legislation, which introduced a term "qualified investor".
