Russia's foreign debt rises
RBC, 01.10.2007, Moscow 11:33:32.Russia's foreign debt climbed by 33.24 percent to $384.8bn in the first half of 2007 compared to the same period a year earlier, the Bank of Russia reported today. Foreign government debt shrank almost 41.3 percent to $40.8bn. This figure includes Russia's new foreign debt of $30.8bn, which is 10.5 percent lower than as of July 1, 2006. Russian banks' international debt nearly doubled to $131bn. Non-financial enterprises' debt (net of debt obligations to and participation in the capital of direct investors) grew almost 1.5 times to $212bn as of July 1, 2007. Former USSR debt went down from $33.8bn to $8.5bn over the past year.
