Moldova cuts wine exports to EU
RBC, 20.08.2007, Moscow 18:14:51.Moldova exported $8.7m worth of wine to European Union (EU) countries during the first six months of 2007, 1.6 times less than in the same period a year earlier, the agribusiness agency Moldova-Vin told RBC today. According to the agency's data, Poland was the country's major wine importer receiving $2.75m worth of alcoholic beverages from Moldova in January-June 2007, up 61 percent from the same period in 2006. Romania and Latvia came in second and third, in terms of imports of Moldovan wine, cognacs, champagne, etc among the EU countries in H1 2007, with $1.9m and $1m worth of imported liquor respectively. Supplies to the Romanian market dropped 4.6 times, while increasing 52 percent to Latvia.
