Russia rated Moldova's second largest investor
RBC, 16.07.2007, Chisinau 14:54:45.At the end of the first quarter of 2007, Russia ranked second in terms of direct investment in Moldova since 1994, having contributed some $120m, a source in Moldova's organization responsible for investment attraction and export promotion said. According to the statement, Russia accounted for 12 percent of the total direct investment in Moldova between 1994 and the first quarter of 2007, placing it behind the Netherlands with a total contribution into the country's economy of $218m, or 22 percent. Notably, until 2006, Russia ranked first in terms of direct investment in Moldova, but the Netherlands outstripped Russia after the Dutch EasEur Holding B.V. purchased Azpetrol, Azertans and Azpetrol Refinery, subsidiaries of Azpetrol Oil Services Group B.V. and Azpetrol Group B.V., engaged in the construction of an oil terminal and a port at Jurjulesht.
