Putin to meet with foreign company chiefs at St. Petersburg forum
RBC, 09.06.2007, Moscow 09:30:24.The 11th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum opens today. It has as its aim to develop partnerships between political and business leaders and academic experts of the world community, as well as to discuss and solve the main problems of global development. The forum will begin with welcoming addresses from Russian Economy Minister German Gref, Federation Council Chairman Sergei Mironov, and St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matviyenko. During the event, Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with the chief executives of the largest foreign companies. The Russian leader will also be the one to present the Global Energy award. Also expected to meet with the presidents of leading foreign corporations are First Deputy Prime Ministers Sergei Ivanov and Dmitry Medvedev, Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko, Russian Economy Minister German Gref, and Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin. A number of agreements will be signed in the course of the forum, such as a cooperation agreement between St. Petersburg, the Russian Economy Ministry, and NYMEX on the establishment of an international commodity exchange. Also, Russian companies and regional administrations are expected to ink deals with such companies as Suzuki, SABMiller, Henkel Bautechnik, Quartzwerke, Orkla, Samsung, and Volvo, among others.
