Russia and Turkmenistan to build gas pipeline
RBC, 11.05.2007, Moscow 10:55:23.Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov in Ashgabat today. The meeting's agenda includes negotiations on cooperation between the two countries, carrying out large-scale investment and infrastructure projects by Russian businesses, as well as technical, military, cultural, and educational cooperation. Putin and Berdimuhammedov will also discuss construction of a new gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Russia along the coast of the Caspian Sea, Deputy Industry and Energy Minster Andrei Reus told reporters on Thursday. He added that Russia had made preliminary evaluations of this project, which would require significant investments. The two presidents will sign a joint statement on the results of today's negotiations.
