Rosatom to hold stakes in foreign nuclear power plants it builds
RBC, 27.04.2007, Moscow 16:46:04.Russia is planning to get hold of stakes in foreign nuclear power plants, a source in the Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom) said today. According to the spokesperson, when signing new contracts to build nuclear power plants abroad, Atomstroyexport will be entitled under the terms of these agreements to receive stakes in the share capital of the plants. This will only be possible in the countries where non-residents' participation in the ownership of nuclear facilities is permitted by law. Atomstroyexport's stockholding in nuclear power plants may range between 5 and 100 percent, the source indicated. He stressed that operation of power plants, including electricity sales, was a more profitable business than maintenance work. This was what had spurred Rosatom to demand stakes in foreign nuclear power plants' share capitals.
