Russia not to export cheap electricity
RBC, 14.03.2007, Yakutsk 09:56:32.Russia will not supply cheap electricity abroad, Russian PM Mikhail Fradkov told journalists today when asked to comment on the possibility of Russia's electricity supplies to China from the hydroelectric power station in the south of the Sakha Republic. He added that Russia did not want any excess capacity to allow for cheap electricity exports, noting that the opportunity for exports depended on the region's internal demand and on Russia's demand in general, as well as on the possible tariffs. He stressed that electricity prices should above all be acceptable to suppliers.
