Belgium poised to expand cooperation with ALROSA
RBC, 02.03.2007, Moscow 18:54:16.ALROSA President Sergei Vybornov and Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt discussed the prospects of future cooperation on the global diamond market in Moscow today, the Russian company's press office reported. The sides expressed mutual desire to develop partnership not only within the framework of the agreement signed between ALROSA, the Diamond Chamber of Russia, the Association of Diamond Manufacturers of Russia, and the Diamond High Council of Belgium in October 2002. The Belgian PM noted that the existing cooperation between ALROSA and the Antwerp World Diamond Center held good prospects. Belgium would like to expand this cooperation, especially now that the country's government has passed a number of bills, which simplify operations within the diamond sector in the area of legislation and taxation, Verhofstadt said. The Belgian PM invited the ALROSA chief executive to take part in an international diamond conference, which will be held in Antwerp in October. Today's talks were also attended by Belgium's Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht.
