VTB to invest heavily in southern Africa
RBC, 28.02.2007, Moscow 19:35:44.The international banking group VTB is ready to invest considerably in the economies of southern African countries, including Namibia, with a view to accelerating the country's economic growth on the basis of Russian technologies. According to VTB's press office, the bank's President and CEO Andrei Kostin stated this at a meeting with Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula during a working visit to the country. In turn, Angula promised that the Namibian government would provide all the support needed for Russian projects aimed at developing the national economy. During a working meeting, the sides exchanged opinions on the development of cooperation between Russia and Namibia and discussed several projects in energy industry, construction of industrial enterprises, mining and processing of natural resources, including uranium ore, which are expected to be carried out with the participation of VTB's Namibian subsidiary, VTB Capital (Namibia), as well as other major Russian companies in cooperation with Namibian partners.
