Russian stock market may grow today
RBC, 26.10.2005, Moscow 11:31:51.The Russian stock market remained mixed yesterday, in spite of the fairly good growth at the opening. The RTS index fell by 0.46 percent to 904.35 points by the closing. The market participants' activity was average: the turnover on the classical RTS market amounted to USD40.9m. Blue chips jumped at the opening due to the solid growth on the US stock market the day before, analysts say. Nevertheless, the average trade volume demonstrated the market's uncertainty in further growth, which resulted in a decline for most securities at the session's closing. Telecommunications stocks traded even worse on media reports about the postponement of the privatization of the state stake in Svyazinvest, experts say. Yesterday's surge in oil prices and the upgrade of Russia's sovereign rating by Moody's may allow the Russian market to resume growth today, analysts believe.
