Metro Group discloses hypermarket plans for 2005-2006
RBC, 27.07.2005, Moscow 17:46:19.METRO Group is proposing to launch 6 Real-Hypermarkets in 2005-2006, a project that will require EUR120m in investments, a top executive at Real-Hypermarket told journalists. The first Real-Hypermarket will open in Moscow (Brateyevo district) on July 28, 2005. The project cost EUR24.9m. The hypermarket's shopping area will cover 9,600 square meters, and a further 11,300 square meters will be occupied by tenants (M.Video, Gloria Jeans, Ile de Beaute, Ives Rocher etc.). The hypermarket's products range numbers 35 thousand items, comprising 18 thousand nonfoods and over 17 thousand foods. 80 percent of foodstuffs on offer will be produced in Russia. The second Real-Hypermarket will be opened in autumn 2005, and the construction costs are estimated at EUR23m. Furthermore, another hypermarket will be launched in Togliatti in 2005. In 2006, three more hypermarkets are to be built, two of them in St. Petersburg and a third in Kazan. Real-Hypermarket will become the anchor store at two Parkhouse shopping centers in Kazan and Togliatti.
