Gov't approves space program for 2006-2015
RBC, 14.07.2005, Moscow 12:26:50.The Russian government has approved the federal space program for 2006-2015 at today's meeting. Russia's space industry is a competitive one, however, it has to develop at a faster rate to compensate for recent lagging, Fradkov stressed at the meeting. RUR305bn (around USD10.89bn) is to be spent on implementing the space program in 2006-2015. In 2006, RUR23bn (around USD821m) will be allocated for this target. In 2005, the financial of the space program will amount to RUR18.3bn (around USD653m). The federal program is aimed at boosting Russia's fleet to 70 spacecraft by 2015. Currently, Russia's spacecraft fleet consists of 33 satellites. Meteorological spacecraft is to be constructed as a part of the program. The new Russian vehicle Kliper is to become operational.
