Moscow to host first national IPO congress
RBC, 06.04.2005, Moscow 10:32:44.Today, Moscow is to host the first national IPO-congress for companies who have already made an initial public offering to share their experience with those who are just planning it. Underwriting banks and organizers of IPOs, legal and consulting experts, rating agencies and investment companies will also advise on carrying out IPOs. The congress will invite experts from the Russian Trading System, NYSE, LSE, Deutsche Boerse, and NASDAQ, chiefs of regulatory authorities (Central Bank of Russia, Federal Service for Financial Markets, and US Securities and Exchange Commission) and Russian ministries (ministries of taxes and levies, economic development and finance). RusAl, Rambler Media Group, Kalina concern, Svyazinvest and Sistema Financial Corporation are planning to take part in the congress. The congress's program embraces three major issues: IPOs on the Russian market, IPOs on the US market and IPOs on European markets. Topics for discussion include current and prospective potential of the Russian stock market; IPO investment opportunities; the investment rating's influence on the attractiveness of Russia's financial instruments; risks and profits; legal aspects of an IPO and specific features of Russian law; importance of exchanges for making initial public offerings etc. The congress is expected to outline the problems Russian companies face when joining the stock market, solutions to them and specific proposals to regulatory authorities. Henceforth, the congress will be held annually.
