No reasons for peace talks with Chechen gunmen
RBC, 08.02.2005, Moscow 15:18:04.There are no grounds for Russian authorities to react somehow to Chechen gunmen leader Aslan Maskhadov's recent statement, which has called on federal authorities to start peace negotiations, Russian Federation Council chairman has told journalists. Mironov believes this statement may be a means of dulling the vigilance of Russian authorities. Moreover, it is not at all obvious that Maskhadov is controlling anything in Chechnya.
