Russia sends more aid to tsunami victims
RBC, 02.02.2005, Moscow 14:51:40.Russia will continue to provide aid to Southeast Asian countries that suffered as a result of December 2004's tsunami, Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared at a meeting at the emergencies ministry. "We have allocated $22m, and we will keep on providing assistance in preventing epidemics. Food supplies are being prepared too - specifically, 20,000 tons of wheat will be shipped to Indonesia," Putin said. The President emphasized that Russia was fully capable of participating in large-scale humanitarian operations, together with other leading countries, and "our duty is to provide assistance to those who need it."
