Russia boosts trade with Japan
RBC, 14.01.2005, Moscow 19:22:53.Russia's trade with Japan advanced 50 percent in 2004 to $8bn, Russian Industry and Energy Minister Biktor Khristenko announced after a meeting with head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry Nobutaka Machimura, who co-heads the Russian-Japanese intergovernmental commission for trade and economic affairs. According to Khristenko, Russia's trade with Japan thus hit its historic record high. Machinery and equipment contributed the most to Japanese imports to Russia. Russia exported raw materials. However, Khristenko considers investment cooperation between the two countries underdeveloped. Japanese investments to Russia total 1 percent of its overall investments abroad.
