Ukraine's eastern region to hold referendum on autonomy
RBC, 29.11.2004, Donetsk 12:44:11.A referendum on seeking autonomy for Ukraine's Donetsk region will take place on December 5, 2004, the regional council of the Donetsk region has decided today. According to the council's decision, this is a response to the current political situation in Ukraine and anti-constitutional actions of opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko. The referendum is aimed at introducing changes in Ukraine's Constitution aimed at making the Donetsk region an independent republic within a federal Ukrainian state.
