Finance Minister on fighting money laundering
RBC, 05.10.2004, Moscow 11:36:26.Russia proposed to establish a Eurasian group on countering money laundering within the framework of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Russian Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin said at an international conference on fighting the financing of terrorism today. According to him, Russia is ready to defray the expenses on ensuring work of the secretariat of the Eurasian group. It is also planned to create the financial intelligence service in countries that will join this group. In addition, it is necessary to create a single database of suspects in financing terrorism. "It is necessary to block every dollar, every ruble that is channeled to terrorist activities; thus we will save a lot of lives," the minister declared.
