Georgian president on EU candidacy
RBC, 06.04.2004, Tbilisi 19:33:23.The EU considers Georgia to be its candidate country, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili declared after a meeting with EU President Romano Prodi in Brussels. According to Saakashvili, EU authorities will officially declare their decision this June. Georgia might join the EU before 2009. The main issue now is to secure Georgian territorial integrity, Saakashvili emphasized. He also declared that Georgia will receive a EU grant worth $EUR15m to implement its infrastructure projects.
