Azerbaijan to pump its oil through Ukrainian pipeline
RBC, 19.02.2004, Kiev 09:48:51. Azerbaijan is ready to transport its oil through the Odessa-Brody pipeline after it raises its oil production, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade told journalists in Kiev (Ukraine). According to him, the amount of oil pumped through Ukraine will be defined in the process of increasing oil production and when "all answers to questions concerning the implementation of the Odessa-Brody project" are given. Rasizade noted that the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline was of "great interest" for Azerbaijan and oil producing companies that operated in the region due to outlooks for the advance in the production of oil and gas in the Caspian Sea region and the necessity to deliver them to external markets. The PM stressed that Azerbaijan would continue oil supplies through the Russian port of Novorossisk totaling about 2.5m tons per year and through the Georgian port of Supsa totaling 6m tons per year. Rasizade confirmed that the construction of "the main export oil pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan" would be completed by the end of this year. In his turn Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich declared about Azerbaijan's desire to participate in laying the Brody-Plock-Gdansk pipeline in Poland. "The Azerbaijani side desires to take part in it. It is just necessary to make corresponding agreements; so, we have already set this task," the Ukrainian PM said.
