Russia and India to intensify space cooperation
RBC, 29.01.2004, Moscow 15:53:02.In late February 2004, the Russian state-run space agency Rosaviakosmos is to make an agreement with India on combining efforts in the development of the global navigation satellite system Glonass. According to Rosaviakosmos' head Yury Koptev, the agreement will define the terms of financing the project by the Russian and Indian sides. Koptev added that at present Russian specialists were developing the Glonass-K satellite. Glonass is the Russian contribution to the European Global Navigation Satellite System GNSS. According to forecasts, by 2010 the bulk of motor vehicles will be equipped with GNSS navigation devices.
