It is planned in the year 2000 budget bill that the collection of taxes will substantially improve, the Chairman of the State Duma Budget Committee Alexander Zhukov said at a press conference today. According to him, the budget bill for the year 2000 suggests that 75% of tax revenues will in fact be collected. The same figure for 1999 was 71%. According to Zhukov, the Government will have to take strong efforts to fulfill this plan. This task will be even more difficult due to the elections, because financial discipline always goes down at the election period. Nevertheless, he pointed out that the plan of tax collection has been fulfilled so far. The reason for that is the improvement of the situation in the industrial sector of the economy. The organization of the tax collection process has started to improve. The adoption of the first part of the Tax Code also positively influenced tax collection.
