"The Union of Right Forces considers it necessary to form a "Committee of Resistance" to the capital's authorities," reported Marat Gelman, Chairman of the Moscow Headquarters of the Union. According to him, representatives of all election unions should join this committee except the bloc Fatherland - All Russia, for it obviously enjoys certain advantages compared to other blocs regarding the election campaign in Moscow. "Numerous violations of the law by the Moscow authorities have been occurring in the course of collecting signatures in support of Sergei Kiriyenko as a candidate to the Moscow Mayor's post, as well as in support of holding the referendum initiated by the Union of Right Forces," noted Gelman. "It is precisely for this purpose that the Committee of Resistance to the Moscow authorities may serve," members of the Union believe. Marat Gelman thinks that "should any serious conflict happen, the Moscow Mayor's Office will bear the responsibility for it."
