Russia To Finish Discussing Unification Treaty With Belarus In November


By the end of November Russia intends to finish discussing the unification treaty with Belarus and introduce an amended text of the treaty, Minister for the Affairs of Commonwealth of Independent States Leonid Drachevsky said at a press conference. According to him people continue to send their comments on the published on October 9 text of the treaty. All the comments and suggestions are being analyzed and introduced in the treaty. Nevertheless Drachevsky stressed that the new text of the treaty was a compromise. The minister agrees with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko that this treaty is a first step to further unification of the two countries. He also stated that according to the treaty the both countries will retain their sovereignty and their defense and political activities will be coordinated. In the future single customs and frontier services are to be created.
