This morning a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and US Deputy State Secretary Strobe Talbott took place in Moscow. After the meeting Talbott declared in an interview that he informed the Russian Foreign Ministry of the US position on the Chechen problem. The Deputy State Secretary hopes that the Russian authorities will find ways to bring losses among the Chechen civilians to a minimum. Ivanov and Talbott also discussed the problem of Nagorny Karabakh. Later today the US Deputy State Secretary will leave for Yerevan to express his condolences to the Armenian authorities in view of the latest tragic events in the National Parliament.
